The fundamental purpose of Upward Bound is help us in upward bound keep our grades up. Our grades have to be at least a 3.7 or higher GPA. Its also to help us graduate college. They want us to get into college and graduate from it. According to the upward bound syllabus the objectives of upward bound are to help us increase our GPA or maintain a 3.7 or higher. It is also to help us increase our standardized test scores. The one that I think is the most important objective is to help us graduate college.
Upward Bound is different from any other club or organization in our school because it is to help us keep our grades up. Also to help us join and graduate high school. It says that in the Upward Bound Syllabus. Upward bound focuses a lot on us. It focuses on how we are doing in school.
Another difference in upward bound from other clubs or organizations in school is that we have the Saturday academies. I like the Saturday academies because I get to meet a lot of new people and interact with them. I also learn a lot of things from the guest speakers that they take to talk to us. In the upward bound syllabus it says when we will be having the Saturday academies.

Jessica Jasso CCHS

prompt 2: A Day in the Life Jessica Jasso

A very important day in my life was on July 13, 2013! I had my quinceañera that day. I had it in Guanajuato Mexico. that day was one of the best days of my life. I had lots of fun. Over the six months we spent planning for it was all worth it. Everything came out perfect exactly how I wanted it to be. I started practicing for my vals about a month and a half before the party. I had 14 chambelanes they were all friends from Mexico. My day started off by waking up to get my makeup and hair done at about 5:30 AM. After that I got my dress put on at about 9 AM. At that time the chambelanes had started to arrive at my house. When they were all there we started to take pictures all together. When we were done taking pictures we went walking to church. After church we took more family pictures. Then when we were done and I was out of the church there was a surprise waiting for me! There were two limos a Lincoln and a Hummer. I was very excited to get on. The limo ride with my chambelanes and some cousins was awesome! :) When the limo ride was over it took us to the reception. When we got to the reception the mariachi was already playing I loved it. When I got there I was surprised to see so many people there. There was over 1,500 people! Can you imagine that? Then after a while it was time to eat. When we all got done eating it was time for the cake. I had two cakes they were very nice. At about 7:30PM it was time for me to dance my vals with my chambelanes. I was really nervous, but everything came out perfect. Finally after the vals it was time for the banda to start playing. I remember that day like it was yesterday. It turned out even better than I had imagined it would. I loved everything about it. The band (baile) was over at about 2:30AM. I was so tired by that time all I could do was think about sleep. Till this day the day of my Quinceañera has been the best day ever. I wish I could go back to that day and live it all over.

My name is Jessica Jasso. I am 15 years old.  I am currently a sophomore at CCHS. I plan to graduate in 2016. A lot of things are important to me but one of the most important is my family, I like spending time with them. I am in Upward Bound for many reasons, one reason is that a couple of teachers recommended me to join. Another reason is that many class mates also told me to join, they told me it would be a good experience for me and that I would get to meet new people. My reason for joining was because I wanted to try new things. I also want to meet new people, and stay away from the things I always did.
